1960 Austin A40 Ground up rebuild to fast road specification .

Purchased by myself some 5 years ago as a professionally restored rolling shell , done to a very high standard , finished in an Audi grey not dissimilar to Farina grey just a few shades lighter with a contrasting black roof . All the suspension is new or rebuild , front disc brakes have been added too .
We then had a 1380 cc engine built with road rallies in mind and some competition , twin su`s were fitted and Dyno`d at a healthy and reliable 100 Bhp , finished off with new minilites and tyres for that competition look . Sporting a custom made stainless exhaust that makes a good noise

Historically on one of Pat Moss Rallies the event organisers on one night stage said her brightwork was too shiny and needed to be dulled down as not to reflect off all the street lights , so some aerosol black paint was purchased , quickly masked up and all the brightwork was sprayed black . That theme was installed into the build of this car and all the brightwork has been professionally blacked as you see it now . There is a mention of this story in one of the motoring books .

A new carpet set was fitted with underlay , new bucket seats , rear seats and trim panels recovered to match,
There is a rev counter , temp and oil pressure guage fitted and a hand held extinguisher . Map light for night rallies and some spotlights .

We successfully completed the Measham night rally and it has had little use since which is a shame and subsequently why i have decided to sell it . It would be a great car for stage rallies or circuit racing with a few ugrades such as a cage , lsd and gearbox . Much more cost effective than starting from scratch . These terrific little cars make great historic race cars if thats you thing or simply use and enjoy as is
