1959 BMC Race Transporter, Rare opportunity to own some real motoring history, an original BMC mobile workshop, carefully converted into a replica works race transporter. One of only approx 20 made in the late 50`s and early 60`s by Marshals in Cambridge.

1959 BMC Works race car transporter replica. In the late 50`s BMC commissioned Pinnin Farina to design a mobile workshop to train mechanics about the new mini. Marshals of Cambridge built them and this is one of those examples. 

This particular vehicle had a full restoration in the late 90`s and has also undergone recent considerable expenditure to make it reliable and usable. Photos are available of the truck during various stages in its life including the restoration and conversion to transporter. Originally fitted with a 5.1 BMC diesel engine, during the rebuild that was removed (included in the sale) and a 6000cc cummins turbo was fitted along with 6 speed box (original also included). 

I have driven this vehicle to several race meetings with a trailer on the back and it goes very well even towing. It will cruise happily at 60 - 65 mph all day long. The twin speed axle also works as it should. 

Wayne Corini from "Chasing Classic Cars" Found one in the USA and ran it through an auction, and one recently sold at Silverstone Auctions for £91,000. Transporters are the ultimate period accessory and this one will be a suitable Goodwood paddock support vehicle. 

My Healey 3000 fits in with plenty of room to spare. From the partition behind the passenger rear seats and the loading door is 20 feet, so with little modification would take 2 mini coopers. The drop down ramp and door is hydraulic and easy to use. I have fitted a work bench with storage and vice and an additional storage container for fuel and oils
