1956 Land Rover Series 1 86"

Recently recommissioned after many years off the road . This is my own personal vehicle and I have undertaken the works from barn find to a usable vehicle .

We lifted the body from the chassis , carried out necessary repairs then fully rust treated the chassis with a waxoil treatment .

The brakes were overhauled with new shoes and wheel cylinders , a new exhaust was fitted too

The carburetor stripped and overhauled

A set of correct sized 6.00 x 16" new tyres fitted x 5

A new auto sparks loom installed with imitation pork pie style rear lights .

The bulkhead was also repaired and repainted in bronze green

The panels were all refitted in unrestored condition exactly as they were removed

The roof is old so adds to the patina , new retro wiper motors fitted as the old ones were seized

The engine is the correct type overhead inlet side exhaust 2 liter petrol engine but not the original having been replaced

Having too many other toys and projects including a 1949 80" I have decided to let this one go for someone else to take it on and progress it further

It runs and drives , starts and stops and has been on a few short journeys ,I would suggest a trailer for collection as I haven`t been more than 5 miles in it .

Not a matching numbers show piece but a wonderfully aged series 1 that looks just right . Ready for continued enjoyment
